    Active Power Management For College

    Abstract

The aim of this project is active power management of electric power system using emerging embedded technology. This project is concerned with energy monitoring and control system for monitoring the electrical energy usage of a plurality of appliance loads. It contains two modules, ie) master module and college module. In the master module is used to allocate the load for college through PC. The PC is connected to the microcontroller through USART. USART is a microchip that provides communication through serial port using RS232. This information about the load sends to the college module via transmitter. In the college module, receiver receives the signal from the transmitter. According to the received information, microcontroller decides the load should be normal or restricted load. Further current and potential transformers are used to monitor the power consumed by the loads. If the consumer power exceeds the particular limit, microcontroller controls the load. LCD display is used to displaying both current and voltage value of the load.
