Automatic Room Light Controller with Visitor Counter

    Abstract

This project is developed for the users to detect, count the visitors and to control the room light automatically. This project mainly consists of a pair of IR sensors, microcontroller unit, Drivers and relays and LCD display. One sensor is connected at incoming door and the other is connected at the outgoing door. When any anyone enters, the sensor senses and sends signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends signal to the calling bell unit through drivers and relays and also to the counter. The counter calculates the number of visitors passed in the door. Through drivers and relays, the microcontroller switches on the room light. The LCD display displays the total number of visitors. When anyone comes out, the sensor sends signal to the microcontroller and it counts the visitors coming out. The microcontroller switches off the room light when the last person in the room comes out. Thus the room light will be on even if one person should be inside the room. This project is very useful in complexes, houses, institutions etc. Since microcontroller is used, the operations are very accurate. This project is very cheap and cost effective. The microcontroller program is written in assembly language. The microcontroller used is PIC16F73.
