Multiple Transformer Oil Temperature Monitoring with Automatic CB Operation with SMS Based Alerts

    Abstract

This project aims at monitoring the oil temperature of the multiple transformers continuously and protects them from overheating. Monitoring the oil temperature in a Transformer is an essential. Turning the Transformers to OFF condition when the temperature is greater than the operating temperature protects the transformer from being damaged. Since the oil is present inside the Transformer there is necessity to develop a system to sense the temperature of the particular oil. This is inturn connected with the Circuit Breaker (CB) which will get tripped off when the oil temperature level rises. It also informing this message to the Electricity Board through SMS with the predefined numbers and also alerts through LCD display. Here the oil temperature of multiple transformers can be continuously monitored on LCD display. The temperature is read by the ADC microcontroller unit. The microcontroller is provided with the instructions such as maximum threshold temperature after which the transformer needs to be turned off. Microcontroller only deciding the status to which the transformer should be driven off depending upon the temperature input.
