    Railway Track Crack Detection using Wireless Sensor


    Abstract

    The Transportation of train always depends on railway tracks (rails) only. If there is a crack in these rails, it creates a major problem. Most of the accidents in the train are caused due to cracks in the railway tracks, which cannot be easily identified. Also it takes more time to rectify this problem. In this project, design and implementation of railway track crack detection using wireless sensor. The main part of the system is consists of vibration sensor, zigbee and microcontroller. In the railway track module, vibration sensor is used to sense the vibration in the railway track. Vibration will be high (excess vibration) if there is a crack in the track. The sensor detail is sent to the microcontroller through amplifier. Then the microcontroller sends this information to the administration module through zigbee transmitter. In the administration module, zigbee receiver receives the information from zigbee transmitter. Then the information will be sent to the PC through USART. In PC the administrator can view the crack details. If the crack is present in the railway track, then a red signal will be glowed in the signal section through relay driver circuit.
