    Unmanned Toll Tax Collector using RFID


    Abstract

    Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), an adaptation of military "identification friend or foe" technology, aims to eliminate the delay on toll roads by collecting tolls electronically. It is thus a technological implementation of a road pricing concept. The purpose of the project is to provide a fast and safe environment for toll collection and to automatically control the vehicle movements at the toll stations by providing individual identities to each user with the help of RFID technology. This project is going to deal with the Toll gate collection and payment calculations, in order to make the Toll gate collection unmanned. Whenever the vehicle enters into the roll gate region the tag in the vehicle will be read by the reader in the toll gate region. Only authorized persons can enter and pass out if the card is valid. The concerned amount will be reduced and then the gate will be opened and the vehicle will be allowed to go.
