Zigbee Based Modern Emergency Vehicle Control

    Abstract

Emergency vehicles may need to go urgently. But sometimes, due to heavy traffic, the vehicles may suffer a lot to go to the Hospital in time. This project is developed for the users to control Emergency vehicles like ambulance etc, using wireless sensor networks. It consists of eight IR modules, Microcontroller, LCD display, Zigbee transducer etc. In each side of the road, two IR transducers are connected to identify the number of vehicles in queue. These sensors are connected with the microcontroller module in the traffic signal. According to the signal from the sensors, the microcontroller sends data to the LCD display and also to the Zigbee transmitter. The zigbee receiver is connected with the emergency vehicles. According to the signal transmitted from the zigbee transmitter, the receiver receives the signal and sends to the microcontroller module. The microcontroller module sends signal to the LCD display. The LCD display displays the status of the traffic in each side. When the emergency switch is switched on, this signal is send to the traffic signal receiver. Then microcontroller generates different signals according to the direction and timings of each side. If green light glows in one side, other sides will be red. When the green signal is about to change, it indicates through yellow light to both sides, that is green going to be red and red going to be green. In case of ambulance and fire service, the signal on the particular side will automatically change to green so that the emergency vehicles can go without any difficulties. If we use this project for traffic signal control, no need of man power. It itself will work properly.
