    GPRS Based Device Controller

    Abstract

This project is developed for the users to control Electric and Electronic devices through Cell phone messages. The user can control all the domestic appliances for example, Light, TV, Fan, Fridge etc. Nowadays, most of the peoples use cell phone for communication. Controlling devices through wireless media becomes very popular. GSM technology is very powerful because it overcomes the limited range of infrared and radio remote controls. The user can send message to a particular cell phone number used in the GSM kit from any place. The message is received through a GSM modem. The received signal is sent to the microcontroller. The microcontroller is programmed to receive the message and executes the corresponding operation according to the message through drivers and relays. The driver section receives the corresponding signal from the microcontroller and controls the relay section. Relays are used as electromagnetic switch. The relay section operates the corresponding device to on and off. The circuit uses GSM modem, AT89C51 Microcontroller, ULN 2003 etc. GSM modem is used for receiving the messages from remote cellphones. The user can use any SIM card in the GSM modem. AT89C51 is a programmable flash type microcontroller. It is a 40 pin microcontroller consists of four I/O ports. ULN 2003 is a driver used for driving minute signal in to analogue voltage. Relays are used as electromagnetic switch. The overall operation of this circuit is controlled by the Microcontroller. The microcontroller program is written in C language.
