Microcontroller Based Automatic Power Factor Controlling System

    Abstract

In A.C Network most of the loads are inductive and hence low lagging power factor. The low power factor is highly underable as it causes on increase in current resulting in additional losses of active power in power system. It is important to have power factor as close to unity as possible. So we introduce the automatic power factor controller. In our project, static capacitors are used for improving the power factor. By calculating the phase angle between voltage and current we know about the necessary value of capacitor which are to be switched into or out of the circuit for keeping the power factor with in a prescribed limit. Due to the improvement of power factor, the system becomes economical. This project maintaining the stability of the power system. This project is very useful in industry and wind mill.
