Automated EB Billing System Using Zigbee

Abstract

This project is developed for Smart Meter System. Smart Meter system enables the user and administrator to know the meter reading in user area through Zigbee Technology and also enable the users to receive any important information from the EB. It consists of two modules called User and Administrator. According to the usage of electricity, the device in the user area displays the units. The embedded microcontroller is programmed to read the data. The embedded controller is the CPU that decides the operation of the unit. The embedded controller used here is PIC16F73 microcontroller. The Zigbee kit receives the information from the EB and sends signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends related data to the LCD through LCD driver. Thus the user can easily get the information from the EB. The meter reading is transmitted to the EB department through GSM kit. The administrator unit consists of a Zigbee unit, micro controlling unit and a PC. The administrator can send and receive any information through the Zigbee kit. The message sent by the administrator is received by the user device. The microcontroller used in this project is PIC16F73. The microcontroller program is written in assembly language.
