    Learning Object Repositories

    Abstract

Learning Object publication can be defined as the act of making a learning object available to a certain community. The publication process can take several forms. A professor can publish lectures notes for students in a Learning Management System (LMS).The same professor can decide to share objects with a broader community and publish them in a Learning Object Repository (LOR).The University where this professor works can decide to start an Open Courseware (OCW) initiative and put the learning material of its courses freely available on the Web. The most prominent attempts to characterize learning object repositories and measure their characteristics by a comprehensive survey of existing LORs and classify them in various typologies. Standard used language, end users, quality control, etc. In contrast with these studies, this paper will quantitatively analyze and compare different types of publication venues for learning objects. The proposed system provides some type of comparison and because their content can also be used for educational purposes, Institutional Repositories (IRs) are also included in the studies. For simplicity, during this paper, we will refer to all these systems as “repositories”. In addition with the system, we introduce a new mechanism which can evaluate the best professor of the publication for each subject based on different period.so that students can analyse best professors for different subjects easily.

    Existing System

In existing system, students gets the notes in printed copy from specified staff and make a Xerox copy or in written copy, then return the notes. If students miss the class they will not know the detailed description of the class. A lot of searching is required by students to get the notes and books. Sometimes foreign author books very rare collection in the library means student does not get the notes.

    Proposed System

In the proposed system, the professor publishes the lecturing notes for the students. The same professor can also share the notes with others. It can also evaluate the best professor of the publication for each subject, so the students can analyze the best professor for different subjects easily.
