Power Quality Monitoring in a System with Distributed and Renewable Energy Sources

    Abstract

Power quality monitoring problem is a big challenge for power engineers as well as consulting engineers in recent times. The impact of wind turbines and photovoltaic systems on network operation and power quality monitoring such as harmonics and voltage fluctuations is very important. This project is developed a power quality monitoring in power grids with distributed energy sources and renewable energy resources. Voltage fluctuations determined by wind turbine are analyzed. The impact of photovoltaic systems on steady state voltage variations and current harmonics is investigated. Renewable energy resources are connected in a grid at distribution system by utilizing power electronic interfaces. Renewable energy resources are connected to the grid through a grid interfacing for power quality monitoring. Voltage and current transformer are used to monitor the voltage and current from the renewable energy resources. Then these information’s are given to the microcontroller. Microcontroller analyzing the power quality and send the control signal to the switch gear. The switch gear supplies the generated power from renewable energy sources to the energy provider and energy consumers.
