This project is developed for the purpose of Smart Meter System. Smart Meter system enables the user and administrator to know the meter reading in user area through wireless networks and also enable the users to receive any important information from the EB. It consists of two modules called User and Administrator. According to the usage of electricity, the device in the user area displays the units. The embedded microcontroller is programmed to read the data. The embedded controller is the CPU that decides the operation of the unit. According to the usage of electricity, the Current and voltage sensor sends signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends corresponding data to the Zigbee transmitter. The meter reading is transmitted to the EB department through Zigbee module. The administrator unit consists of a Zigbee receiver, microcontroller unit and a PC. The Zigbee module receives the information from the EB and sends signal to the microcontroller unit. The microcontroller unit sends signal to the PC through USART. By this way, the usage of electricity is easily traced from the customer in wireless manner. If the user failed to pay the amount, the electric connection for that particular user will be disconnected in wireless manner.
