Visible light communication (VLC) is a data communications variant which uses visible light between 400 and 800 THz (780–375 nm). VLC is a subset of optical wireless communications technologies. A dual purpose off-line LED driver providing both illumination control and Visible Light Communications using Variable Pulse Position Modulation scheme has been presented. Input data (the light to be on, brightness of the light) is given to the PC. PC sends the input to the microcontroller through USART. Microcontroller generates the PWM according the input. PWM decides the brightness at which the light to be glow. This PWM is sent to the destination using Visible light communication.
