The aim of the project is to design and fabricate the working model of an AIR DISC BRAKING SYSTEM. The Braking system consists of a pneumatic cylinder, Ball valves, Air foot pump, Nylon hose plastic tube, tube fittings, flow control valve and Disc brake. The construction is very simple when compared to other braking systems. The air foot pump is connected to the inlet of Direction control valve by means of plastic tube. The two outlets of the air tank is connected to the pneumatic cylinder through the nylon hose and valve. There is a flow control valve to release the pressure slowly when the brake is applied. This flow control valve is fitted in the ball valves. The whole assembly is mounted on a stand for its stability. While releasing the air from the air tank using the valve, the rod connected with the piston is pushed outwards and this pulls the inner cable of the Disc braking system. The operation will complete within few seconds. If we release the brake, the valve will be closed and during the restoring action of the spring, the Disc brake is released.
