The study is a development of a microcontroller based automated smart home using Bluetooth with biometric access which ensures the security of the home. In the study hardware and software development are utilized. The home appliances are remotely controlled through Bluetooth enabled android phone using an android app and the access to the lock of the home as well as the powering ON/OFF of the home automation circuit is through biometric authentication. In biometric system, one can delete, enrol as well access the system using enrolled fingerprint. Home automation is developed on 8051 microcontroller and HC05 Bluetooth module for switching operation of appliances. For biometric authentication system Arduino Uno and R305 fingerprint sensor are used. Relay, bulbs, dc motor and solenoid lock are used as load to demonstrate the working of the system.
