A NOVEL DESIGN OF A RESPIRATORY RATE MONITORING SYSTEM USING A PUSH SWITCH CIRCUIT AND ARDUINO MICOCONTROLLER

    Abstract

Respiratory rate is one of the vital indicator of person’s health signs. It is the rate of a person’s breathing when at rest and measured in breaths per minute. Respiratory rate (RR) may vary from infant to adults and also respiratory rate vary for a person when ill. The proposed respiratory rate monitor is based on an electronic circuit with a push switch. The circuit is installed in a chest belt. Due to the chest movements of the breathing process, the switch in the circuit will be pushed and the breath rate of the patient will be counted and displayed in a bluetooth application. The proposed respiratory rate monitoring system has been tested and compared with other respiratory rate monitoring belt system and the results were satisfactory.
