Recently, (Radio Frequency Identification) RFID based frameworks move beyond security to turn into tracking systems that integrate security with more proficient materials tracking inside the library, involving easier and quicker charging & discharging, materials handling and inventorying. In this study, a book tracking RFID-based system has been designed and developed to replace the existing library barcoding system. This system enables the librarians to minimise the spent time that is required for scanning barcodes during charging and discharging process. Further, this technology has been enhanced by inserting GSM features to notify and alert the borrower book with the due date of book return and also determine the associated fine if the due date is exceeded.
RFID Technology, GPS Technology
The developed tracking system consists of three main parts namely: input, process, and output. All the information is stored in the RFID module and PC computer which represent the host of application software. The modem of GSM is connected to the TXD and RXD ports of Arduino UNO microcontroller. The function of this microcontroller is to synchronize the communication between the hardware with the software properly. The creation of database for this project is necessary issue where the scanned data by the book reader that represent the tag ID, should be compared with the database to find the book location and its details. The database saves a set of original information that includes the tag ID, book title, book call number, and assigned location. To ensure the availably of book detection, both of database and interface systems are required. Book information are stored in the database like title, author, and year. The interface software is designed to collect the books information and can be accessed by the database.
