Traditional coal mine monitoring systems tend to be wired network systems, which play an important role in industrial monitoring safe production. This proposed system controls the ventilation demand to mine workers depending upon present climate conditions within the mine field. Here we propose a design of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) with the help of Raspberry pi controller which a smart stick that assists people through sensory receptors and communicators which can monitor and control the underground mine climate condition. Its ability will include obstacle detection through a motor actuated ultrasonic sensor, intimation through a buzzer, LED based alert system for other persons especially for low light conditions and a combination of keypad and display for communications. To avoid such types of unwanted signal, all mining industry follows some basic precaution and signal. The Raspberry Pi here in the work we have utilized is to improve life safety, many systems have been designed, and have even been implementing the system in some countries today and many countries are to develop the safety system in the all over world. The hardware implementation has been progressed using Raspberry Pi.
In the existing method the atmospheric conditions inside the coal mines are monitored manually or by using sensors but the sensed data cannot be sent to the control room whenever. Also the alert intimation will be sent manually to the miners which are time consuming and within this period of time the people inside the mine will be affected. Due this method there is no safety to the people to maneuver inside the mines.
The proposed system consists of Raspberry Pi, Gas sensor, Temperature sensor, Humidity sensor, Pressure sensor, camera, Alarm and Wi-Fi Module. Sensor values are used to monitor environmental condition of the coal mine and sensor details are send to the Raspberry Pi. If any one of the sensor detail is more than threshold value, the raspberry pi sends signal to the Raspberry Pi which triggers the alarm to alert labours inside of the coal mine. Then also these details are send to the admin room through Wi-Fi module. So that Admin monitor present condition of the coal mine with the help of shared sensor value. To monitor labours inside of the coal mine, the camera is fixed inside of the coalmine and it sends live video data to the admin room through Raspberry Pi.
