Medicine Information Retrieval

Abstract

MEDINFO is an android application. This system is used to develop an efficient scheme to check the medicine description. Most of the common people is not aware about the medicine described in label, which causes a severe health problem and make health even worse. We propose an application that helps to view the medicine name, dosage, timing, age limit, medicine price, manufacturing date and expiry date. It helps people to know these details by scanning the barcode of the medicine. User can easily use the application and see the medicine description. It is the system that gives the medicine description if the barcode is matched and if the barcode is not matched an error message is received.

Existing System

In the existing system all process are done in a manual way. Many people in the world are unaware of the medical description and consumes the expired medicine which will lead to huge health problems and it also leads to death. In the existing system, the process are performed in manual way. If the consumer want to know about the validity of the medicine they need to check in the cover of the medicine. Then only they know the medicine validity date.

Proposed System

In the proposed system, the admin enter the medicine details by using their username and the password. The admin enter the new medicine details in the system then they modify the medicine list and then the details are stored in the database. The consumer register their details in the app. The validity of the medicine is checked by scanning the barcode in the medicine using the barcode scanner. From the scanned image of the barcode the application checks the validity date of the medicine. Based on the validity (expiry) of the medicine the app sends a message (whether to use the medicine or not) to the consumer. This application helps the consumer to view the medicine name, dosage, timing, age limit, medicine price, manufacturing date and expiry date.
