Student Attendance Management System

Abstract

In today’s world, a paper based approach is followed for marking attendance. Smart Attendance Management System helps the staff to take attendance easily, securely and is less error prone. For this, we are implementing software based on Android Technology. It helps the staff to take the attendance of students using Smart-phone. Staff will login using the phone application, get connected to the server and take attendance using Smart- phone. After taking the attendance using mobile, staff will send it over to the server using GPRS and attendance list will be updated automatically. Students can know their attendance from anywhere by sending sms followed by register number which displays the attendance of the day. Thus, the project will ease the workload of the lecturers by providing them the platform wherein they will be able to take, manage, update and see the attendance of the students with efficiency. Also the students will remain updated regarding their current status and thus can improve the performance by increasing their cumulative attendance in time. Here we develop an android application where the staff enters the attendance in the mobile using keypad. Then the attendance details are sent to the server using GPRS and the attendance list is updated automatically. This system will ease the workload of the staff by providing a platform to take, manage, update and view the attendance of the students with efficiency. Students get updated about the attendance of the day by sending a message to the server
