    Automatic Traffic Light Control System

    Abstract

This project is developed for the users to control traffic signal in traffic intensity. The control has four sides. Each side has three lights called Red, Green and orange. This project is mainly consists of a pair of IR sensors, microcontroller unit, Drivers and relays. One sensor is connected through incoming road and the other sensor is connected at the outgoing road. When any vehicles enter, the sensor senses and signals to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends signal to the calling bell unit through drivers. The counter calculates the number of vehicles passed in the road. Through drivers, the microcontroller switches on the traffic light. If green light glows in one side, the other side will be red. When the green signal is about to change, it indicates through orange light to both sides, that is green going to be red and red going to be green. The signal is thus used to drive a particular NPN transistor and thereby it energizes corresponding relays. The relay supplies the necessary voltage to the signal lights. If we use this project for traffic signal control, no need of man power. It itself will work properly.
