    PLC BASED IRRIGATION CONTROL SYSTEM

    Abstract

The environmental monitoring has been increased due to the changes in the climate, which makes the high active research area. This field is based on wireless sensor nodes for gathering data about the environment. Appropriate environmental conditions are necessary for optimum plant growth, improved crop yields, and efficient use of water and other resources. Automating the data acquisition process of the soil conditions and various climatic parameters that govern plant growth allows information to be collected at high frequency with less labor requirements. The goal of the project is to develop irrigation system by continuously monitoring the soil moisture level on the field. In our project, the moisture of the soil is sensed from the agricultural field and then motor is operated accordingly. If the land is dry the PLC sends signal to the driver which switches ON, the motor to feed water on the land. At the same time, it will send message to the corresponding mobile number through GSM which is inbuilt in the PLC kit. If the moisture of the soil reaches the threshold limit then the PLC sends the signal data to driver which switches OFF the motor. Similarly, it will send message to the corresponding mobile number through GSM. By this project we can develop the irrigation system by reducing human effort. Thus system is designed considering easy deployment, low power consumption, system quality, long life and safe communication. The PLC program is done in PLC programing language.
