AUTOMATIC POWER SHUT DOWN USING RAIN DETECTOR

    Abstract

Real-time weather monitoring system and controlling power supply is an important tool to monitor the climatic conditions of a farm/home because many of the farms/homes related problems can be solved by better understanding of the surrounding weather conditions for preventing overall electrical power shut down. The popularity of home automation has been increasing vastly in recent years due to much higher affordability and simplicity. Being able to control aspects of power supply in houses, and for having the feature to respond automatically to events, it is becoming more and more popular and necessary due to security and cost purposes. In this project, four sensors (Temperature, Rain status, thunder sound, lightening) are connected with each Arduino microcontroller. The sensors are used to sense rainy climate if it senses any change in the weather condition, then it send signal to the Arduino microcontroller. Then the Arduino microcontroller send signal to the load to shut down high voltage consuming devices in home and switch ON emergency devices like lights, Fan etc. However, the designed system reduces electricity bill and prevent overall electrical power shut down due to thunder, lightning. Therefore, this system provides real-time data acquisition and transfer of measured parameter like other high cost commercial weather station.
