    SMART POWER MONITORING SYSTEM USING IoT


    Abstract

    Energy saving is the most important and challenging issue. Automatic Electrical Power meter is used in domestic electric power distribution system. The integration of the Arduino, WIFI and GSM Short Message Service (SMS) provides the system as Smart Power Monitoring system. Smart power meter provides data for optimization and reduce the power consumption. This system communicates with embedded controller and GSM modem to transmit the data.This system also includes a motion sensor such that if there is no human in the place or house it will automatically cut the power supply. Domestic consumers get benefited through this system.

    Proposed System

    The single phase Electrical power meter is used for monitoring the electric Power consumed in each residence, business. GPRS is used for data communication. GSM is configured with Arduino. The GSM module used has bandwidth of 900MHz. PWM pins are used as communication between microcontroller and GSM module. The Data from the Power meter is sent to Arduino and to GPRS module and it reaches the users mobile phone. In this system the user can switch on/off the mains or home appliances from their Android smart phone app. The WIFI module transceiver receives the data from cloud and sends to Arduino and the Arduino controls the relay to switch on and off the circuit of the home.
