    Implementing Intelligent Accident Detection, Congestion Control and Ambulance Clearance


    Abstract

    Nowadays the road accident rate is very high, especially for two-wheelers. Timely providing medical aid can help to save human lives. This system aims to alert the nearby medical center about the accident to supply immediate medical care. Due to the usage of vehicles is rapidly increasing, and at the same time the occurrence of accidents has also been increased, but we can save a life by expediting the ambulance to the hospital in time. The objective of this proposed system is to minimize the delay caused by traffic congestion and to provide the smooth flow of emergency vehicles by using the concept of making the traffic light to green within the path of ambulance automatically, so that the ambulance can reach the accidental area in order that time and human life are often saved.


    Existing System

    The existing system only uses information about the distance between two vehicles provided by the ultrasonic system and does not need to know the speed. The advent of technology has increased traffic hazards and road accidents are frequent, which results in the loss of lives and property due to poor emergency facilities. This deficiency can be overcome by the proposed system.


    Proposed System

    The proposed system aims at, • A modernized way of controlling traffic. • No. of road accidents can be reduced to a large extent. • Easy traffic regulation in busy cities. • Help the traffic police in easy control of traffic • Over a wide range applicability. • One-time investment cost. • Life of people can be saved The proposed system consists of Raspberry Pi, GPS, GSM, MEMS, vibration sensor, LCD Display and traffic light control module. In this system, MEMS sensor is used to sense acceleration data of the vehicle. When vehicle is normal, no information is sent to rescue team. When an accident occurs, the vehicle changes its direction randomly and vibrates with high frequency. After that high frequency value is send to Raspberry Pi with addition data of GPS. The Raspberry Pi sends signal to the corresponding mobile number of the user through GSM. This values to help to give information the user’s parents or any other blood relatives about the accident details. This accident details are also send to the nearest rescue team through GSM. RF transmitter in the ambulance reaches the destination area with the collected GPS data. To avoid delay due to traffic jams, RF communication is used to change traffic signal into green color when the emergency vehicle comes close to the traffic signal.
