LIGHT FREE MAPPING INDOOR ENVIRONMENTS USING ULTRASONIC RADAR SYSTEM

    Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) usually refers to a set of technologies (e.g. sensors, tags, mobile devices, and communication technologies) to design and create advanced and complex systems that aim to improving the quality of life. Our novel technique aims to providing a new low-cost, versatile system based on ultrasonic technology, ZigBee and Microcontroller platform to map indoor environments with the aid of PC device. In particular, the proposed system, namely Ultrasonic Radar System (URAS), is composed of three components: (i) the independent module that is the core of the URAS and based on an ultrasonic sensor connected to an Microcontroller that forwards the acquired data to PC; (ii) the robot module that is a prototype of a physical the physical support used to remotely map the indoor environment; (iii)PC that remotely controls the system and processes the acquired data through three different views of an ultrasonic sensor connected to an Microcontroller that forwards the acquired data to the personal computer. The ultrasonic sensor detect the indoor object and the distance and location of an object is forward to the Microcontroller which forwards the information about the object to the personal computer. The personal computer mapping an object using distance and location. This technique was implemented by embedded c software.
