Electricity Bill

Abstract

Fetching electricity bill using GSM (Global System for Mobile) Automatic power meter reading system is used for reading the electricity bill in the home is efficient. It consists of GSM digital Power meter installed in every consumer unit and an electricity reading is taken by this meter. The GSM digital power meter is a single phase standard of digital kWh power meter with embedded GSM modem which utilize the GSM network to send its power usage Reading using short Messaging systems (SMS) back to the energy provider wirelessly. At the power provider side an electricity billing system is used to manage all received SMS meter reading, compute the billing cost, and update the database and to publish billing notifications to its respective consumer through SMS. This project is implemented in ASP.Net as the front end and MS Access as the back end.

Existing System

In the existing system, each task is carried out manually and processing is also a tedious job. In existing method it human operator billing are prone to reading error as sometime the house electric power meter is place in location where it is not easily accessible. Labor billing job is sometime also restricted and slowed down by bad weather condition. Printed billing has the tendency of losing in the mail box. The human operate and longer working hours to complete the meter reading task. The human error can open an opportunity for corruption done by the human meter reader. So the problem which arises in the billing system can become inaccurate and inefficient. In existing method the EB reading fetch only Two months one time. The consumer not knows one month billing process. The existing method inefficient, billing error, reading error occurs, and time consuming process.

Proposed System

The proposed method Fetching EB information automatically the Electric Meter Reading System” is a metering system that is to be used for data collecting from the meter and processing the collected data for billing and other decision purposes. The meter readings like kilo-watt-hour (kWh), voltage, current, bill, etc. by SMS to a central server. The central server then stores the information in database for analysis and sends the bill to the customer mobile phone. The SMS based data collection can be done very quickly and efficiently. Data can be collected desired time per day basics the consumer can easily analyze the reading difference .As there is no human intervention in the entire process; there is no chance of human error and corruption. The proposed efficient mean of data collection that allow substantial saving through the reduction of meter reread, greater accuracy, improved billing and customer service.
